Introduction to the Data Discipline and Teams

You will be introduced to the basics of information theory, data lifecycle & various disciplines within data profession. This will give a good overview of what this whole business of data is and where you think you could fit in. 
 
Concepts: Data, Information, Knowledge, wisdom (insight). Characteristics of good data. 

Understanding Metadata 

You will learn that as much as data by itself is valuable, it is the data about data (metadata) that can provide key information about how to manage the data itself i.e. keep it up to date, relevant, accurate, secure and trustable.

Data Modelling ( & Basics of Data Architecture)

You will learn about the basics of how companies like facebook, amazon have thought about the structure of the billions of customers and products and gone on to build successful business on top of them.

Data Management & Ops 

You will learn how complex and vast amounts of data is managed and used on a day to day basis.

You will learn about the difference between transactional, analytical and master data. This understanding and their management becomes business critical when multiple systems, partners or technologies are involved (which is always the case).

Each cohort of learners will learn through online sessions and pre-recorded videos, course work, Q&A sessions and a capstone project. To help with the learning, each  learner will be assigned a mentor, with whom they can discuss the learning and career prospects. Learners will be assessed on the assignments and the capstone project.  Learners also get support in building their employability skills like adaptive communication, time management and collaboration. Learners will Data aligned tools like SQL, Excel and PowerBI. Learners also get support building resumes, building their LinkedIn profiles and attending interviews for jobs in data.To graduate, the learners must demonstrate required knowledge, understanding and practical skills. 

You need a computer with internet to learn and do assignments. Most tools or applications you will need are free. We will help you access the specialised tools you may need to complete the program at no extra cost.
